A roadmap built in Bardstown

Two years ago I was a Bardstown High student working shifts at Freddy's and my family's insulation business, wondering whether a top national university was even realistic for a kid from a small Kentucky town. Nobody handed me a plan, so I built my own. I raised my ACT superscore to 32, wrote my application essays about Bardstown instead of hiding it, published research, and hunted down the scholarships that made it all affordable.

Today I study Brain & Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester, and I coach Kentucky students through that same process. Rural and small-town kids are who I care about most, because I know exactly how far away this stuff can feel. I keep it honest, affordable, and free of the false promises this industry loves to sell.

ACT Preparation

$30/hr

An 8-week program with a FREE diagnostic session, official materials, and two full practice tests. Kentucky's KEES award pays an ACT bonus on composites from 15 through 28, so for many students a score increase means real scholarship money. I will walk you through exactly where your student falls on that scale.

College Admissions Coaching

$150-$500

Everything from essay coaching to full application packages, plus a $75 walkthrough for Kentucky schools like UK, UofL, and WKU. Students write; I coach. Always.

Early Bird Planning · Grades 8-10

$200/semester

Four sessions and a written family roadmap: course mapping, activities, and help understanding how KEES works, since the yearly GPA award begins freshman year.

Subject Tutoring

$25/hr

Biology, Chemistry, AP Psychology, Anatomy, English & writing. Small groups $15/hr per student.

Healthcare Career Track

from $25/hr

CNA, PCT, EKG, and Phlebotomy exam prep plus HOSA competition coaching, from a five-certification BHS Health Science Pathway grad.

Research & Leadership Mentorship

$150-$325/semester

Build a real, submittable research project, or take on a leadership goal that matters to your student and their community. Selective enrollment: I take 2-3 students per semester so every project gets real attention. Applications are open right now and I respond to every one within a week.

Being straight with you about what this is

Everything above is real, but none of it makes me a licensed school counselor or a career admissions officer. I am a college student who went through this process recently and did well at it, and that is exactly what you are hiring. Peer coaching is genuinely useful, and it is not the same thing as twenty years in an admissions office. You deserve to know which one you are getting.

A 20-minute call. You tell me where your student is, and I tell you honestly what would help, even when the answer is "you can do that yourselves for free."

2 · The plan

A diagnostic or planning session builds a concrete roadmap: what we're doing, when, and what it costs. No surprises.

3 · The work

Weekly sessions online year-round, and in person during my university breaks. Parents get an update after every single session.

Questions families actually ask

Do you tutor online or in person?

Online year-round over Zoom or Google Meet, with sessions recorded and shared with parents. I'm in person around Bardstown during my university breaks, and I'll share my break calendar when we start.

What if we can't afford it?

Talk to me anyway. I offer sibling discounts, bundle discounts, and hardship pricing when a family needs it. The consultation is free, and sometimes my honest answer is that you can handle something yourselves without paying anyone.

Do you guarantee score improvements or admissions?

No, and I never will. Anyone who does is selling you hope. I guarantee preparation, honesty, and effort, and I'll always tell you what's realistic for your student.

What grades do you work with?

Mostly 8th through 12th. Early planning fits 8th to 10th graders, ACT prep and admissions coaching fit 10th through 12th, and subject tutoring covers middle and high school.

Will you write my student's essays?

Never. Colleges can tell, and it puts your student at real risk. I brainstorm, outline, and edit alongside them. The words are always theirs, and that's what makes the essay work.

How does payment work?

Semester packages are half up front and half at completion. Hourly sessions are paid up front. We go over everything in the free consultation and sign a simple agreement before the first session, so there are no surprises.

My child is a minor. What are your safety and privacy rules?

A parent is always included, sessions are recorded with written consent and deleted within 30 days, I never message students privately, and in person sessions happen in public or supervised spaces. All of it is written out on my How I protect students page.

What happens to my money if we stop early?

Unused prepaid sessions are refunded in full, for any reason. You never pay for a session that does not happen.

Are you a licensed counselor or admissions officer?

No. I am a college student who went through this recently and did well at it. That is real help and it has limits, so I tell families plainly where mine are and refer out when something is beyond me.

We're not near Bardstown. Can you still help?

Yes. I work with families all across Kentucky online, and everything except in-person sessions works exactly the same wherever you are.
